BEFORE seated from left to right: Jose Rizal, Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo, Trinidad H. Pardo de Tavera, and Juan Luna. The man behind Luna is possibly their waiter. AFTER Pardo de Tavera is on the floor unconscious, the waiter has joined the group, and Rizal is about to hurl an apple on the hapless Trinidad. taken from ambeth ocampo's facebook page , which i heartily recommend. in it he says that these pictures will likely never be published, because the men do not appear "heroic" enough. i would argue quite the opposite. on a side note, these images also further demonstrate the power of the internet. even if you're a national hero and dead a hundred years, your drunken photos will still get posted on facebook.

better law enforcement through cosplay.

Image
citizens, meet " roBOHcop ": the PNP's mascot for its "badge of honor" program. apparently prevention of copyright infringement is not among roBOHcop's prime directives. roBOHtrivia : roBOHcop's badge number is the same as that of the PNP director general. badge of honor, indeed.

someone please tell me in which planet this billboard image makes any kind of sense: right. "after a long day of protecting innocent serfs from oppresive colonial dictators, i like to kick back with a refreshing glass of coke zero. es no calorias!" weeeeell i guess that's still better than this one: billy you old kidder you.

dina goldstien: fallen princesses

Image
says photogapher dina golstein: The project was inspired by my observation of three-year-old girls, who were developing an interest in Disney's Fairy tales... I explored the original brothers Grimm's stories and found that they have very dark and sometimes gruesome aspects, many of which were changed by Disney. I began to imagine Disney's perfect Princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me, such as illness, addiction and self-image issues. hm... so it's art photography by an art photographer. but without looking at the last two images above, i would've mistaken the intent for nothing more than digital-age spoofery. but then i am neither a fairy tale character nor a princess. any thoughts from the ladies? link
