dungeons n dragons n stuff

tabletop gaming, specifically D&D-type rpgs, is one of those things i've always wanted to try but never got the chance. my college roommate was a DM but for some reason or other i never did get to sit in on any of his gaming sessions.

so, i just played my final fantasy or online mmorpgs or whatever, learning to be content with these electronic, graphical crutches for the imagination.

and then i see this vid on youtube:

and i am deeply, deeply inggit. what fun!

  1. I'm the same--I used to buy the adventure modules and invent adventures for myself. Not a lot of people were into it when I was young. If you want to try it out though, you can always visit one of the Polyhedral events, which are supposed to be newcomer friendly. Phil Corpuz from Pinoy Pop is involved with that I think (either that or another gaming event).

  2. akhg--that's just it--i saw the vid, did some googling, and found out i'd missed the event by a couple of days!

back in grade school i used to play (read?) the d&d-branded choose your own adventure books. i didn't have dice so i did the drawing-numbered-slips-of-paper-from-a-drawer thing. i'll never know how those books got past our librarian, since d&d was still considered satanic back then.

    good times.
