this is me kicking myself for missing the third day of PICCA...



...while my erstwhile table-mates like gio paredes, mel casipit, tepai pascual, maika ezawa, lady storykeeper and the rest of the invited indie komiks people were selling out their comics. grrr. what's more, i missed the pick-up for the comic quest komiks consignments, so, no new outlet for me.

oh well. at least i got to hang out with such cool people. and i have pictures.



mel let me read part of his 300+page anime-inspired fantasy epic mukat.


in a pathetic attempt to stir up some business i offered free caricatures. it wasn't until i added the "no purchase necessary" part that people actually started asking to be drawn.




during day two we exchanged fanart. here's what i got:

as i am typing this i am staring at a big box of unsold komiks. komikon, you are my only hope.

    Sasabihin ko sana sa iyo na may nakuha kami(Tepai, Mel,Bayan Knights member atbp.) na libreng Darna Komiks na pinamigay ng Mango comics noong 3rd day. At nag pamigay din pala si mang Danny Acuna ng comics nya.Pero hindi ko na lang sasabihin, kasi baka lalong sumama ang loob mo at hindi ka nakapunta. :-)

thank you all you beautiful people who dropped by the indie tiangge and bought my stuff at yesterday's summerkon. school run #1 sold out, both the "DVD copy" (inkjet print) and "kuha sa sinehan" (photocopy) versions. you guys are awesome. look out for the second chapter at metrocon in august. i didn't have time to buy all the titles i wanted, but at least i got free stuff from chapel and josel nicolas . also did tradesies with mel casipit ( baboy 2 ), hazel manzano ( callwork 2: proud callboy ), lady storykeeper ( dragon kid 2 ) and michael david ( kubori kikiam 7 ): pop culture maven adam david remarked on the quality and variety of this year's indie releases. it's an exciting time! my setup, with the school run cover going camo against the red tablecloth. the indie tables were arranged in a circle and situated in a corner this year, so anyone who got there late had to face the wall, just like in kindergarten. i lucked out because gio paredes g

metro comic con 2010: pics n' stuff

my haul this year includes some priceless original art from dj legaspi and mel casipit . thanks guys! i got to sit at the komikon booth (thanks to jon zamar, syeri baet and the rest of the komikon peeps!). that's gio paredes at the right and lico reloj at upper left--his fifty peso ninja was the very first indie i bought at the first komikon back in '05. in between is markus of planetmarkus.com , who was kind enough to mind our tables for us while we walked around and stuff. being a comics blogger, he was almost as knowledgeable about our stuff as we were! it was a pleasure to see entire families trooping to the con. feedback from children regarding school run 2's brutal zombie attack scene ranged from "it was cool!" to "meh, i read 4chan so nothing new" to "i got scared". the rj ledesma was there. he bought a couple of my comics and twittered about them .
