the good people at UP sorsoguenos will be hosting a talk on thursday about "comics writing as an art form and reflection of contemporary philippine society", and they were looking for a speaker who really knows his stuff. since that person was unavailable, they asked me instead. i'll be joining 'kikomachine' cartoonist manix abrera and (i think) a few other artists on the panel. I like how the story is told where words don’t overwhelm the drawings and just let the story be told in a pleasing mixture of words and pictures. Macoy has the makings of a great cartoonist, and by that I mean a comic book creator who can tell a story very well through both his writing and drawing. read the whole thing here .
